The idea for this part of the site came about when, after a very long stay in hospital, my next-door-neighbour told me she wanted to stitch an Operating Theatre Sampler (!!!) and asked me if I knew where she could get a chart for one.

She became addicted to cross stitch when she was given a kit to keep her occupied during the long hours, laid in a hospital bed. When she came home (though still confined to bed for long periods) she wanted to stitch the sampler as a "Thank You " to the Surgeon who had looked after her over the months.

Needless to say I didn't know of such a chart but after some thought, I offered to design one for her - with a laughing "How hard can it be?"  "It would be impossible for me!" Was her quick reply.

Six months (and a lot of stitching) later the totally unique Sampler was framed and presented to the delighted Surgeon - it now has pride of place on the wall of his consulting room.

It was then that I realised that there must be other people "out there" who, for whatever reason, can't find just the right chart for what they want and can't design it for themselves.

I love the challenge of designing and, as well as various designs for myself, I have done the exclusive floral design (The Language of Flowers) for my daughter's Wedding Cake Band, pictures for my three grand-children (Poems and Nursery designs) and also a picture of an old fashioned Carousel to hang in my nephew's cafe (it was called "The Carousel".)
